A grade with an excellent finish and good tool life
The addition of lead o this grade permits the production of some 25% more parts with excellent finish and good tool life. Machinability is raised to 145 sfm.
Like 4140 annealed, it responds well to heat treatment with good strength and wear resistance, excellent toughness, and good ductility in the quenched and tempered condition.
